An injection-molded plastic kit of the American 2.5-ton truck GMC CCKW-352 with 6x6 drive and a wooden cargo bed in 1:35 scale from the Hobby Boss brand. The model captures the short-wheelbase version with an open cab with fixed half doors and a canvas roof. The package offers a detailed ladder frame, chassis, engine, cab and wooden body; according to the manufacturer small photo-etched parts and a decal sheet are normally included as well.
The GMC CCKW was one of the most widespread trucks of the American army of the Second World War, known among the soldiers as the Deuce and a Half or the Jimmy. The 352 version had a short wheelbase. To save steel, some of the trucks were given an open cab and the steel body was replaced by a wooden one. The reliable 6x6 trucks formed the backbone of American logistics on every battlefield and served after the war as well, among other places in Korea.
First assemble the frame with the chassis and the drivetrain, and paint the engine compartment and the interior of the cab before closing them up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The wooden elements of the body will stand out with a technique of glazes and a dry brush. Apply a primer and spray olive green with an airbrush; the patina is provided by a wash, edge highlighting and dust and mud pigments on the chassis and the tires.
