A plastic set of wooden transport pallets in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer MiniArt. It is neither a vehicle model nor an accessory for one, but a small scenic element for a diorama, for a display base or for the bed of a cargo truck. Pallets are among the most rewarding accessories there are: they are universal, they suit civilian and military scenes of practically any era and they quickly fill an empty space that would otherwise look unfinished. The exact number of pieces in the package is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The pallets can be stacked, leaned against a wall, scattered over an area or loaded onto a vehicle. In a scene they form a natural second plane that leads the eye to the main model, and at the same time they serve well to cover places where the bare base would otherwise show. They combine with crates, barrels and other cargo.
Wood is best imitated in layers: a light base in a sand or gray-beige shade, then a dark wash into the gaps and finally a dry brush in a lighter tone to pull out the edges of the boards. Before painting it pays to scribe the grain of the wood lightly into the surface with a sharp point or to nick the edges, and then the pallets do not look like plastic. Scuffed and split boards, oil stains and deposits of dust from pigments give a scene credibility. Paint the individual pieces in slightly different shades, because a uniform color on pallets always gives a model away.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, vehicles and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
