This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model of the vehicle. With sets of this kind the Basic designation in the name most often means the commonly used exterior parts that replace plastic parts of unrealistically great thickness. Photo-etched sheet is an order of magnitude thinner than plastic, so once swapped, fenders, grilles, brackets and small fittings look far more convincing. The set has to be used together with a matching kit in 1:35 scale, which it does not replace.
Achilles was the British designation for the M10 tank destroyer rearmed with the 17-pounder anti-tank gun. The basis remained the American open-topped tank destroyer on a chassis derived from a medium tank, with an open turret with no roof. The longer and more powerful British gun markedly improved the ability to hit well armored targets at greater range, and a long barrel with a muzzle brake became its recognition feature. Vehicles of this type served with British and Allied units in western Europe at the close of the Second World War.
Cut the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp chisel or scalpel on a hard surface, not with cutters. Make the bends in a bending tool or at least between two blades, so that the fold is crisp and straight. Degrease the metal before gluing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in a minimal amount, or with epoxy where time is needed to set a part. Before painting apply a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint will rub off the smooth sheet while it is handled. Cut away the plastic parts the photo-etch replaces only after a trial fit, so that the placing can be compared.
The set is an accessory for a kit, which it does not replace. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Before buying, check that the set matches your kit.
