It holds self-adhesive masking sheets with pre-cut shapes that follow the deck areas of one particular kit. The kit and paints are not in the package. The set is cut for one particular model, Hobby Boss 86515, so check the match before ordering.
They save the part of the work where accuracy by hand costs most: setting out the boundaries between shades on the deck. You apply the paint over a prepared stencil and the boundary arises mechanically. The result is repeatable and symmetrical, which freehand practically never achieves, not even for an experienced modeler.
The most delicate moment comes before you ever get to the paint, when separating a mask from the backing sheet. Thin cut-outs deform easily, so lift them with flat-jawed tweezers by the wider part, never by a tip or a narrow tab. If a cut-out twists as you lift it, let it drop back and try again from a different edge; film that has been straightened but once folded will not sit flat on a deck. Around superstructures and gun turrets, lay the mask in pieces and keep checking that the edge coincides with the edge of the plastic part.
This is not a kit. The package holds masking material only; the model and paints are bought separately.
