Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American nuclear attack submarine of the Los Angeles class in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Riich Models. The kit makes it possible to build all three versions of the class — the early 688, the VLS version and the modernized 688I — and in addition it holds the deep submergence rescue vehicle DSRV-1 seated on the after deck. The model is richly detailed: parts in dark gray plastic, a set of photo-etched parts and a brass nameplate for the base with a stand.
The Los Angeles class is the most numerous class of nuclear attack submarines in the world and forms the backbone of the American submarine fleet. The DSRV (Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle) is a small rescue submersible carried on the back of a mother submarine; it serves to rescue crews from sunken submarines. The combination of a carrier submarine and a DSRV is attractive to collectors and rare among the usual Los Angeles class kits.
Choose the hull version from the instructions before gluing. The submarine can be finished as a full hull on a stand or as a waterline. Dry-fit the hull halves and sand the joint over. Glue the fine photo-etched parts and the small DSRV vehicle with cyanoacrylate glue and work with a magnifier. Spray the hull matte black, set the DSRV apart in a bolder color and tie the surface together with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
