A model of the Velorex 16/350 three-wheeler in 1:43 scale, finished in brown, gray and brown. It is a completed piece: it is not assembled, glued or painted, and after unpacking it can go straight onto a shelf. The year given in the name belongs to the real subject.
The Velorex grew out of the idea of building the cheapest and lightest possible vehicle. The basis was a welded frame of steel tubes over which artificial leather was stretched, so the body had no sheet metal panels and a damaged spot could be patched. The vehicle stood on three wheels, two at the front and one driven at the rear, and was powered by a two-stroke motorcycle engine; the second number in the 16/350 designation refers to its capacity in cubic centimeters. It is exactly this combination of a tubular frame and a fabric covering that makes the Velorex one of the most characteristic domestic vehicles and a fixture among collectors of Czech models.
The car is small, and so it tells better in a group than on its own: it works well in a row of other domestic vehicles in the same scale or as a prominent element of a diorama. Stand it out of reach of direct sunlight so that the colors do not fade. When handling it, take it from underneath by the chassis, because thin parts such as the mirrors and the wipers break off easily. Brush dust away with a soft brush.
A finished model is supplied. A base, a display case and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
