The real subject

The P-51 Mustang was among the most successful Allied fighters of the Second World War; it escorted the bomber formations on routes that older types could not reach. The P-51K version was one of the late production variants and differed from the P-51D built alongside it in the supplier of the propeller and in the details that went with it. The K-10 designation refers to a particular production block within that variant.

What the set contains

Color elements of the SPACE range in 1:48 scale. They have no adhesive layer of their own: only the backing paper is moistened and the element is then lifted off it with tweezers. That is the essential difference from an ordinary decal, because the element is not slid off the paper with water but taken off and glued separately. You do not need a decal softener for them and one is not to be used. The list of the elements and their position on the model are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Usage tips

The surface the element is going onto should be painted, dry and degreased; the glue will not take on a greasy or dusty surface. Moisten the backing paper under the element with a sponge and a drop of dish soap, then take the element off by its edge with pointed tweezers. Apply a thin layer of white PVA glue to the spot, set the element in place and press it down with a soft wooden stick or a cotton bud, from the center out to the edges. The manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue. With elements on an uneven surface, press gradually and let them settle into the recesses.
