Photo-etched metal set for a model of the Douglas B-26B Invader in 1:48 scale. The metal parts replace shapes that injection-molded plastic is too thick for.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Invader is an American twin-engine attack aircraft from the end of the Second World War. It originally carried the designation A-26, and after the postwar change to the American designation system it became the B-26 and served under that designation for many more years. Do not confuse it with the Martin B-26 Marauder, which carried the same number earlier; they are two different machines.
The item is listed among the photo-etched metal accessories. Photo-etched metal may be as thin as real sheet, whereas an injection-molded part has to have a noticeable thickness because of the mold. The difference shows best wherever an edge should be sharp and a surface thin.
Cut through the tabs holding the parts on the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remainder with a fine file. Make the folds along the marked grooves in one movement, ideally in a bending tool or between two blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied a drop at a time to the edge of the part, as cement for polystyrene will not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the surface and go over it with a base coat, otherwise paint will not hold on smooth metal. The layout of the parts and their positions are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
