Eduard 1:48 B43-0 Nuclear Weapon with the SC43-4/-7 tail assembly is a resin set of external stores for models of American aircraft of the Cold War period.

This is not a model of an aircraft but a detailing set of external stores in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. The set holds the body of the B43 bomb in the Mod 0 version together with the tail assembly designated SC43-4 and SC43-7. The resin casting replaces the simplified parts from the box where a modeler wants to hang period-correct stores under the pylons.
The casting is divided so that the correct combination of body and tail can be assembled. The surface carries fine detail of the panels, the joining bands and the attachment lugs, which injection plastic usually only suggests. The parts have no parting line, so once the casting block has been cleaned up there is no laborious sanding of seams along the whole length of the bomb.
The B43 was an American tactical nuclear bomb introduced in the 1960s and carried for many years by a wide range of tactical and strategic aircraft. It was built in several versions that differed above all in the tail assembly, which determined the method of release, that is, whether the bomb fell freely or was retarded. The tail assembly is therefore what distinguishes the individual forms on a model.
Separate the parts with a fine-toothed saw, sand the cut and wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting. Both training and live bombs of this type were usually sprayed in a uniform light shade, so the result rests on a clean surface, sharp panel edges and fine shading. A thin wash in the engraved lines and a discreet dry brush along the edges help. If you sand resin, protect your airways.
