The Swiss Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1:48 scale. The set brings masks for the glazing for both sides, a pair of sets of national insignia and three metal parts: the tips of both MG 131 machine guns and a Pitot tube.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Swiss Air Force obtained twelve examples of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in May 1944. It was compensation for the destruction of a German night fighter which had made an emergency landing on Swiss territory together with radar that was secret at the time. The machines served only briefly, the engines were worn and their operation ended soon after the war. It is that short episode which makes the white cross on the tail one of the most interesting variants of the Gustav, because the camouflage stayed German and only the markings changed.
What the metal does and does not cover. Here the answer is cautious. The description of the package speaks of machine gun tips, not of whole barrels. The metal part therefore replaces only the last few millimeters above the cowling and against carefully drilled plastic the gain is smaller than on aircraft with long wing barrels. The real argument for the metal variant here is a different part.
The set is prepared to the Hasegawa kit. The procedure is the same as with the other metal accessories: cut off, true the surface and glue in. Anyone building with the canopy closed who intends only to spray the cockpit will manage with masking of the glazing alone. Anyone who wants two clear muzzles under the cowling and does not want to risk a broken plastic spike gets exactly that from the metal.
