An accessory for the late Messerschmitt in 1:48 scale: pre-cut masks for the glazing from both sides, masks for the national insignia, a pair of metal MG 131 machine gun muzzles and a turned Pitot tube. Prepared for the Hasegawa model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The armament of the late Messerschmitts was arranged on two levels. In the axis of the engine lay the MK 108 cannon, which fired through the hollow shaft out of the center of the propeller spinner; it had a short barrel, a low muzzle velocity and in exchange an exceptionally heavy shell. Above the cylinders then worked a pair of MG 131 machine guns of 13 millimeters caliber, timed so that the rounds passed through the gap between the propeller blades.
This accessory is aimed at the part of the assembly that is visible from outside. It brings two turned metal tubes for the machine gun muzzles; the weapon mounted in the axis of the engine is covered by the spinner, and that is why it is not dealt with in the package. The enclosed Pitot tube replaces the thin plastic molding under the wing, that is the part which breaks most often during a build.
The second half of the contents belongs to the painting work. The films fit the cockpit glazing from the outer as well as the inner side and during spraying they hold the edge of the frame exactly where it should be. Masks for the national insignia will be appreciated by anyone who has ever struggled with a decal over a rounded surface; a sprayed cross has neither a rim nor a silvery haze under the film.
Anyone building late Messerschmitts in a larger series will appreciate one more small thing. A turned part can be shortened to the required length without the muzzle being squashed, because it is a hollow wall that is cut. With a plastic stub that option is gone; after shortening a solid circular face is left and the opening has to be laboriously drilled out.
The film is applied to a perfectly clean surface, because every speck of dust under the edge will show in the shape of the frame after spraying.
The set is derived from the shapes of the Hasegawa kit in 1:48 scale; the plastic is bought separately.
