Photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet carrier-based multirole aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet is a single-seat carrier-based multirole aircraft. Compared with the older Hornet family it grew: it has a larger wing, angular air intakes and more hardpoints. Operating from a deck tells on it, so not only the silhouette is rewarding but also the crowded surface with plenty of covers, handles and small sheet-metal parts.
Etched metal is thin and at the same time stable in shape, which is exactly what injection-molded plastic cannot manage on fine parts. On a model that shows on the edges, on fine grilles and everywhere a part is meant to look like sheet metal rather than a slab. The extent of this set and the purpose of the individual parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions; how much plastic has to be taken off the model follows them as well.
Work through the instructions from the back: first think about which parts go inside, because once the fuselage is glued you will not reach them. Lay every part on dry and only then glue it. Apply cyanoacrylate glue in a minute amount; on larger areas a two-part adhesive works well, as it gives time to set the position. Degrease the metal before painting and coat it with a base made for metal, otherwise you will peel the coat off during handling. Then spray the paint in thin layers, so that fine edges do not disappear under the build-up.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
