The subject is the Boeing YL-15 Scout, a small postwar liaison and observation aircraft. The contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are stated on the box and in the instructions; with short-run kits the contents also differ between individual releases.
The YL-15 came about shortly after the Second World War as a light high-wing monoplane for liaison, observation and transport duties from short and unpaved strips. Characteristic of it are the slender rear fuselage with a high-set tail surface, extensive cabin glazing with a view downward and to the sides, fixed landing gear and the ability to take off and land in a short distance. The machine never reached large-scale production; the examples built served mainly for trials and some of them then flew in civil service in harsh northern conditions. It is precisely the unusual shape and the small number of aircraft built that make the YL-15 a sought-after subject.
Expect short-run tooling: heavier gates, possibly no locating pins and the need to level the mating surfaces on sandpaper. Dry-fit every joint and glue with thin cement for plastic applied into the seam. The extensive glazing is crucial on this aircraft: cut the panels out carefully, sand the mating surfaces flat and glue them with a glue for clear parts. The frames are best painted over masking tape cut to size, or over ready-made masks. Paint and fit the interior before you close up the fuselage, because it will be clearly visible through the glazing. A light or metallic finish needs a good primer and joints sanded smooth.
