An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Bristol Bulldog fighter biplane in 1:48 scale from Smer. It is a classic kit of an older cut; for the exact contents of the box and the choice of markings go by the enclosed instructions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Bristol Bulldog was a British fighter biplane powered by a radial engine, which became one of the mainstays of RAF Fighter Command at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. It was marked by a rugged metal structure, good handling and favorable running costs, and so in peacetime service it long ranked among the most numerous British fighters. It was also used for training and for practice combat, and Bulldogs flew in the colors of several foreign air forces as well. It was a typical representative of the era in which biplanes were slowly giving way to the monoplanes that were coming in.
Seat the interplane struts accurately and take your time over the rigging: add the bracing wires from stretched sprue or fine thread only after the paintwork is finished. An older mold calls for filling and sanding of the seams, and often for new reinforcement of the thin parts. It is worth distinguishing the metal fuselage from the fabric wings in color: polished metal panels and matte fabric with a fine wash into the ribbing. Spray the base over a primer and seat the decals on a gloss clear coat so that they do not silver.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
