A photo-etched metal set for a model of the de Havilland Tiger Moth trainer biplane in 1:48 scale. It refines the features that are too coarse in injection-molded plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the de Havilland Tiger Moth trainer biplane in 1:48 scale. On an aircraft with open cockpits the detail is visible without any peering in, so every feature that has to be thin and still strong is worth replacing with metal. Etched sheet makes it possible to produce slender levers, buckles and small panels the way injection-molded plastic never could.
The Tiger Moth was a British trainer biplane of the 1930s on which whole year groups of Commonwealth pilots learned to fly during the Second World War. It had two open cockpits in tandem, fixed landing gear, fabric covering and an inverted inline engine. The aircraft had a reputation for forgiving mistakes only up to a point, which is why the pilots who came off it were genuinely trained. A number of machines fly to this day, so there is usually plenty of reference for faithful painting and for building a particular aircraft.
For a builder who is up for fine work and wants to get more out of the model than a straight-from-the-box build. The exact list of parts and the kit the set is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions; before building, offer the parts up to your model dry. Using every piece is not compulsory, as even a few well chosen ones tell on the result.
A set of photo-etched parts is supplied. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
