A decal sheet in its own right from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models in 1:48 scale for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in the E-1, E-3 and E-4 versions. According to the name it belongs to four camouflage schemes and is marked as the first part of a two-part set. The sheet is applied to a finished, sprayed model.
The division into two parts makes it possible to cover more patterns, including the small lettering that would not fit on one sheet. Go through the enclosed drawing before building, then, and find out which items the chosen scheme calls for and whether they are here or in the second part. A thin carrier film from a specialist manufacturer draws into the engraving better than the thicker decals from older boxes.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 of the E family, nicknamed the Emil, was a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine and a characteristically narrow fuselage. The E-1 version carried an armament of machine guns, while the E-3 and E-4 had 20 mm cannons in the wing, which showed in the shaping of the wing and its fairings as well. There are differences between the individual versions in the form of the cockpit canopy too.
Varnish the base with gloss clear coat. Cut the decal out, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and slide it into place once it releases. Fine-tune the position with a damp brush and soak the surplus water up with a cloth. In the engraving and on the fabric surfaces of the control surfaces use a decal softener. Once dry, spray the model with a matte or satin varnish, which hides the edges of the film.
