Resin wheels with weighted tires for the English Electric Lightning in 1:48 scale, the late type for the F.Mk.3 to F.Mk.6 versions. Note that this is the British interceptor, not the American F-35.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of wheels from the Ukrainian brand Armory for a model of the British English Electric Lightning interceptor in 1:48 scale. The box gives it for the late wheel type and for the F.Mk.3 to F.Mk.6 versions. The tires are cast with the sag at the point of contact with the ground. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a kit you buy separately.
The Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor with a thoroughly unusual powerplant layout: its two engines sat stacked one above the other in the fuselage rather than side by side. That gave the machine an extraordinary rate of climb and earned it a reputation among pilots as an aircraft that takes off like a rocket. It entered service in the early 1960s and served until the end of the 1980s. The F.Mk.3 and the later F.Mk.6 belong among the higher-performing forms of the type; the F.Mk.6 received a larger ventral tank, because endurance had always been this machine's weak point.
Wash the castings with warm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and do not snap them. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; the kind for plastic will not hold on it. Separate the rim from the tire by masking, best of all with a circular template. Once the wheel is fitted, the flattened patch has to lie parallel with the ground. The silvery, glossy natural metal surfaces of the Lightning take only a little dust, so keep the weathering on the wheels within limits and concentrate it in the tread.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
