What this product is

A metal sheet with a grille pattern, produced by etching. The pattern is graded for 1:48 scale and the maker designates it as the American type grille. The overall size of the sheet is 100x50 mm, so one piece yields several parts with a margin to spare for trials and for a first attempt that does not come off.

What it is suited to

On models of vehicles, grilles are among the places where coarse plastic is visible at first glance: engine compartment covers, outlets, radiator grilles and ventilation openings. Etched metal has a thickness a plastic part from a kit cannot reach, and the pattern is regular over the whole area, which does not always come off with hand-drawn or drilled detail. The sheet is not supplied as a finished part for a particular model but as an area from which you cut out the shape you need yourself.

Building and painting tips

• first trace the shape onto paper and try the paper template on the model
• cut the sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface, or with metal shears along a straight line
• level the edges after cutting with a file, so that the part sits down with no corner standing off
• it is bonded with super glue applied in a negligible amount around the edge
• before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and back it with a thin coat of base color

Who it is for

The sheet will be appreciated by a modeler who likes to make details himself and does not want to depend on a set worked out for a single kit. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
