1:48 F-104C/G/J Wheels Late type is a resin replacement for the landing gear wheels of Starfighter models in 1:48 scale, in the late version.

A supplementary set in cast resin, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the landing gear wheels on a model of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter in the C, G and J versions in 1:48 scale and matches the late version. Each wheel is cast in one piece, hub and tire tread included, so there is no gluing of halves and no cleanup of a parting line, which on injection-molded wheels is the most laborious and least repairable part of the job.
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was a single-seat supersonic aircraft with a very slender fuselage and a short trapezoidal wing with a sharp leading edge. The C version served with the US Air Force, the G became the most widespread export variant and was also built under license in Europe, and the J was created for the Japanese self-defense forces. Against the dimensions of the aircraft the landing gear is slight, and the wheels stay clearly visible on a finished model because no large doors cover them. An inaccurately shaped wheel therefore shows at once in a display case.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting block off and level the mating surface on sandpaper laid on a flat board, so that the wheel stands square on the leg and the model does not sit crooked. Painting is quickest from the back: spray the whole wheel in the hub shade, mask that with a circular mask or a disc punched from adhesive film and add the rubber shade. Pure black looks unnatural on a model; a very dark gray with a hint of brown works better. A light dry brush in a dust shade around the circumference helps at the end.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
