An accessory set from the HGW brand for the F-4B Phantom II in 1:48 scale, carried in the Basic Line range. It is not a model of the aircraft: the set adds detail to a finished kit, which has to be obtained separately. At HGW, Basic Line is the entry level of the offering for a given type. The exact contents of the package are stated on the box of the set.
The F-4B was the first version of the two-seat, twin-engine Phantom II fighter to be deployed in series with the US Navy and the Marine Corps. Characteristic elements of the design are the upswept wingtips, the drooped horizontal tail and the crew of two in a tandem cabin layout. It is precisely the two-seat cabin that matters from a modeler's point of view — it is large, clearly visible on models in 1:48 and accessories show up in it more strongly than on a single-seat machine.
Work with the set only after the painting work at the place of fitting has been finished. Pick the small parts up with tweezers over a work surface, dose the glue in spots with a pin and never straight from the bottle — excess shows at once on a fine part. Try every part dry first and adjust the seating surface if need be. Leave closing the cabin to the end, so that you can reach the detail for as long as possible.
