A detailed photo-etched set from Eduard, meant to improve the outer surfaces of the plastic model of the F-4D Phantom II in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an airplane but an accessory for raising the fidelity of a finished kit. The set usually brings fine exterior elements such as airbrakes, covers, grilles and small external fittings, which plastic cannot express at the right thickness.
The F-4D Phantom II was an American two-seat supersonic multirole fighter from the McDonnell Douglas works. The D version came about for the US Air Force and was put into action among other places during the war in Vietnam. The aircraft was famous for its pair of powerful engines, its long range and its wide range of armament.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a glass or metal surface and bent in a photo-etch bending tool. They are glued with super glue or with a two-part epoxy. Degrease the parts before the clear coat; metal holds paint better once a primer has been laid on.
This is a supplementary photo-etched set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
