This is a resin detail set, not an airplane model. The set replaces the landing gear bays of a plastic kit of the carrier-based F/A-18A Hornet fighter with faithfully cast bay walls with runs of wiring, hydraulic lines and stiffeners. The aim is to replace the usually empty or simplified plastic bays with a realistic space full of technical detail.
The F/A-18 Hornet is an American twin-engine carrier-based multirole fighter operated from aircraft carriers. The sturdy nose and main landing gear with richly worked bays is among the striking features of a parked machine that draw attention. These are exactly the areas the set refines and details.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts and cut off the casting blocks. Bond resin with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and sand with respiratory protection. Before the fuselage and the wings are closed, check how the bay walls seat and adapt them if necessary. It pays to paint and weather the inside of the bays before the final assembly; pick out the wiring and the lines with a gentle wash.
