An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Hawk jet trainer in the T Mk.1A version, in 1:48 scale. The two-seat cockpit with two seats one behind the other is well in view on the model, because the canopy is large and undivided, so it is the cockpit that deserves the most attention.
The Hawk appeared in the 1970s as an advanced trainer on which pilots prepared for the step up to combat aircraft. It has a single jet engine, a low-set wing and a tandem cockpit in which the rear seat sits slightly higher so that the instructor can see forward. The T Mk.1A version was modified so that it could carry armament and, if needed, also serve in the defense of the country's own airspace. The type spread to a number of countries and still flies today, among other places with aerobatic display teams.
Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage, and mask the canopy with pre-cut masks or narrow tape. Trainers are usually finished smooth and glossy, so fill and sand the joints carefully and apply a gloss coat before the decals. If you are building a strikingly colorful display scheme, expect every irregularity to show through the deep paint.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
