Photo-etched stowage boxes for the KV-1 and KV-2 1:48 from the Czech maker Hauler are an accessory for a model - boxes for tools and equipment folded from thin brass, not a kit. Target kit: Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler with stowage boxes for models of the Soviet KV-1 and KV-2 heavy tanks. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory that is added to a finished or part-built model. Both vehicles were based on a common hull, so one set covers both types. The set is intended for the Tamiya kit.
A stowage box is in reality a sheet-metal container with thin walls, a lid and handles. In a kit it tends to be molded as a solid block with a suggested lid, which shows above all where an edge should be sharp. A photo-etched box is folded up like a little carton from a single blank, so it has thin walls, sharp edges and, with the lid open, a real interior as well. The latter is interesting for a diorama, where contents can be put into the box.
Work one bend at a time and between bends always check that the edges are square to one another - a box folded crooked can no longer be straightened. Join the corners with super glue applied from the inside with the tip of a piece of wire, so that the glue does not get onto a visible surface. It works well to fold the box around a wooden or plastic block, which holds the right angle. Paint it separately and seat it on the model only when it is finished, including the wash in the seams and the wear on the edges.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model of the vehicle are not included in the package.
