This resin accessory from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel presents in 1:48 scale the boarding ladder for the American McDonnell F-101B Voodoo interceptor. It is not a model of an aircraft but airfield equipment; propped against the cockpit it turns a model into a credible scene from the apron at once.
The two-seat F-101B Voodoo served from the end of the 1950s as an interceptor of the American and Canadian air defense. The high-set cockpit for the pilot and the radar operator called for a special boarding ladder during preflight preparation, and it was part of the standard equipment of the apron. It is precisely such small things that give airfield dioramas authenticity.
Wash the castings free of the mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off carefully; work with feeling around the slender rungs, as resin is fragile. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Ladders tended to be in metallic silver or gray, or in yellow; a fine wash will bring the structure out and light chipping of the edges will add the patina of use.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the model of the aircraft are not included in the package.
