Painting masks 1:48 Lavochkin La-5F/FN (AML)

Self-adhesive painting masks from the firm AML intended for applying the camouflage scheme of the Soviet Lavochkin La-5F/FN fighter with an airbrush. The masks follow the boundaries of the color fields faithfully, so that the division between shades comes out sharp and even over the whole of the airframe. The set is cut to fit a model in 1:48 scale and is intended for Lavochkin La-5F/FN models.

The real subject

The La-5 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine, which markedly raised performance over the earlier LaGG-3. The La-5F version and above all the La-5FN with its supercharged engine were among the mainstays of the Soviet fighter force on the Eastern Front, and they carried the characteristic two-color upper camouflage.

Use

• Spray the base (lighter) shade and let it dry properly.
• Transfer the masks to the right places and press them carefully against the surface.
• Spray the darker shade and take the masks off once it has dried.
• For a softer transition the masks can be lifted slightly above the surface.

Who the set is for

• Modelers reproducing Soviet divided camouflage.
• Builders who want uniform and repeatable boundaries.
• Those who prefer an airbrush to masking freehand.

This is an accessory for an airbrush, not a kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
