Lockheed P-38H Lightning 1:48 in the Zoom version is a shortened color photo-etched set from Eduard for the pilot's compartment. It is a metal accessory for a plastic model, not a kit and not a masking set.

The Zoom sets stand in the middle of the Eduard range. Against a bare brass etching their parts are printed in color, so painting dials and harnesses falls away, and against a full color set they are deliberately shorter, concentrated on what is most visible in the pilot's compartment. This item is therefore a pre-painted metal accessory. Products of a different kind, for example masking sets, carry the same subject name, but this one is an etching.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter aircraft with a pair of tail booms and a central nacelle for the pilot. Allison engines with turbochargers gave it high speed and a high ceiling, and the armament was concentrated in the nose, which simplified aiming. The H version belonged to the middle part of the development series and carried changes to the powerplant. The pilot's compartment in the central nacelle is easy to see on the model, because the cockpit is not sunk into a fuselage.
The instrument panel will take the most work. On color sets it is made up of several layers, between which a real depth of the dials comes about. First line the layers up dry, and only then join them with a minute drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin. Into each dial then goes a drop of gloss varnish or clear resin, which once cured acts as the glass of the instrument. Sand the original relief off the plastic parts, otherwise the assembly will grow and the cockpit will not close. Shape the belts only after cutting them out, so that they look natural. Do not overspray the pre-printed surfaces with opaque paint; the sheen can be unified only with a thin matte varnish.
This is an accessory set, not a stand-alone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
