Eduard SPACE 1:48 P-400 is a set of color 3D decals for detailing a model of the Bell P-400 Airacobra in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you already have.

The SPACE range from the Czech firm Eduard rests on decals with sculpted relief. The items are printed in layers and come already painted, so on a model they look three-dimensional and you do not have to paint them afterwards or assemble them from tiny photo-etched pieces. The set is intended for the Bell P-400 Airacobra in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory for an existing kit.
The P-400 is the export designation of the Bell P-39 Airacobra fighter. Machines originally ordered for the Royal Air Force differed in armament — instead of a 37 mm cannon they carried a 20 mm weapon — and some of them ended up serving with American units in the southwest Pacific. The Airacobra was unusual in its design: the engine sat behind the pilot, a drive shaft ran under the cockpit floor to the propeller, and the aircraft stood on nosewheel landing gear at a time when that was not usual on fighters. The cabin with its car-type side doors is therefore a conspicuous place on a model where detail pays off.
Items of the SPACE range are not applied like a wet decal. First paint the surface with a base shade and let it dry through — it has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Cut the items out one by one, moisten only the backing paper with a sponge and a drop of detergent and lift them off with tweezers. Fix them in place with white PVA glue; the manufacturer does not recommend super glue. Do not use a decal softener at all: its chemistry attacks the printed resin and ruins the item. At the end, even the finished surface out with matte or satin varnish.
The set is an accessory for a model. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
