1:48 M4 Sherman is a turned metal gun barrel from Eduard, meant as a replacement for the plastic barrel on a model of the M4 Sherman tank in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but a detail accessory.

This is a turned metal gun barrel for equipment in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. It replaces the plastic barrel of a base M4 Sherman tank kit with a precisely machined metal part. It is neither a model of the tank nor a complete detail set but a single, functionally decisive accessory that markedly lifts the look of the most exposed place on a model.
A plastic barrel from the box comes from two halves, so a parting seam runs along its whole length and has to be sanded away and the shape restored. The muzzle tends to be solid and has to be laboriously drilled out. A turned metal part, by contrast, is perfectly symmetrical about its axis, straight along its whole length, with a crisply turned muzzle and no line from a mold. Filling and sanding fall away, the part does not warp and its greater weight also helps the balance of the turret. The exact diameter, length and caliber of the part are not stated here, so it is worth checking the match with your kit.
Cut the original plastic barrel off as close to the mantlet as possible and carefully open the hole in the mantlet out to the diameter needed, ideally with a drill in a hand holder rather than in a high-speed drill. Degrease the metal part with alcohol before gluing and try it dry to see whether it holds the axis and the elevation. It is bonded with super glue or with two-part epoxy. Apply a primer meant for metal before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. At the end it pays to bring the muzzle out lightly with a dark pigment or a wash.
