A plastic kit of the famous ocean liner RMS Olympic in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. The model is built on a one-piece hull, which makes assembly easier and keeps the line of the sides clean, and it is rounded out with detailed decks and superstructures. According to the manufacturer the package holds photo-etched parts, a display stand and a nameplate. The finished ship measures roughly 388 mm long and is a rewarding subject for lovers of the great liners of the early twentieth century.
RMS Olympic was the first, the name ship of her class and the sister ship of the famous Titanic – both liners belonged to the same trio of ocean giants. Unlike the Titanic, the Olympic had a long and successful career: she served from 1911 through the whole of the 1920s until the middle of the 1930s, and during the First World War she worked as a troop transport, where she earned the nickname Old Reliable. Her four funnels, elegant superstructures and long hull are an icon of the era of transatlantic shipping.
The one-piece hull is a rewarding foundation – concentrate on gluing the decks cleanly and on seating the superstructures and the funnels precisely. Paint the hull with an airbrush and bring the deck to life with wood shades and a wash into the recesses. Glue the fine photo-etch (railings, ladders) with cyanoacrylate glue. Set the model on the stand supplied with its nameplate, or into a diorama with a calm sea.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
