The set serves for masking the wheels while painting; it is not a kit or a replacement running gear. The shape of the masks follows particular parts, so it is listed for the Tamiya kits.
The Easy Eight is a Sherman with late suspension, and for masking that is a fundamental difference. Where the older Shermans carry bogies with vertical springs and a pair of wheels one above the other, this type has bogies with horizontal springs and wheels set in pairs side by side. From the side you therefore see markedly more tire bands than on the early versions and the running gear looks crowded. Wider tracks are added to that, partly covering the inner row of wheels, so part of the work will not be visible once it is finished anyway. In practice that means two things: masks from a set for an early Sherman do not belong here, and when planning you should think in advance about which wheels you will give full care to. On this suspension the return roller is part of the bogie rather than of a separate bracket on the hull.
Assemble and paint the bogies away from the hull, while they are accessible from every side. Before masking, compare the masks with the wheels on the sprue, wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and degrease them. A thin primer follows, which with a larger number of identical parts guarantees that every wheel will behave the same while painting. Leave the tracks right to the end, because once you fit them you cannot reach the inner tire bands even with a brush. The order of assembling the chassis is therefore: bogies, wheels, paint, unmasking, and only then the tracks and seating on the hull.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
