Injection-molded plastic kit of the American AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter in 1:48 scale from Academy. The model offers a detailed cockpit and landing gear, finely engraved panel lines and riveting, an optionally open cockpit canopy and a complete load of external stores. In the box there are plastic parts, a clear sprue and a decal sheet.
The AH-64D Longbow is the upgraded version of the Apache attack helicopter. Its identifying feature is the fire control radar housed in a dome above the main rotor head, which allows targets to be found even behind obstacles. The two-seat machine with its tandem cockpit carries a 30 mm cannon, Hellfire anti-tank guided missiles and unguided rocket pods. It serves with armies around the world as their main strike helicopter.
Start with the detailed cockpit and the rotor head with the main rotor, assemble the tail rotor as well and place the characteristic radar dome above the cockpit. Glue the clear glazing in place only after painting and mask the frames; the optionally open canopy reveals the interior. Glue the external stores and the landing gear with thin cement for plastic applied drop by drop. A primer and an airbrushed dark green or gray are the way to go, with the engraved lines picked out by a dark wash and the edges by a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
