An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian racing floatplane Macchi-Castoldi M.C.72 in 1:48 scale from Smer. It is an older tooling with a combination of raised and engraved detail; the model stands on a pair of floats. Check the actual package contents and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Macchi-Castoldi M.C.72 was an Italian racing floatplane from the beginning of the 1930s, designed for the contests for the Schneider Trophy. It was powered by a powerful twin engine driving a pair of contra-rotating propellers, which balanced out the enormous torque. In 1934 it set the absolute speed record for piston floatplanes, a record that stood for many years. It took off and landed on the water on two large floats.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic; pay attention to the accurate seating of the floats and their struts, on which the model stands. With an older tooling, count on filling the seams and sanding them down. Apply the characteristic Italian racing red over a light base; the smooth surfaces of the fuselage and the floats call for careful polishing before the gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
