An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian fighter Macchi C.200 Saetta in 1:48 scale from Smer. It is an older tooling with raised rivets and a simpler breakdown; it contains the fuselage, the wings and basic cockpit fittings. Check the actual contents of the box and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Macchi C.200 Saetta, meaning lightning, was one of the basic fighters of the Regia Aeronautica at the start of the Second World War. It was powered by a radial engine and was marked by good agility, if with weaker armament and a lower speed than the later types with inline engines. It was used in the Mediterranean, over North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic; with an older tooling, expect to fill and sand the seams and possibly to restore the detail. Paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Complement the typical Italian schemes (a sand base with green blotches or rings) after the gloss varnish with a wash into the panel lines and fine wear with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
