New Ware 1:48 Mask A-4 Skyhawk, gray and white camouflage is a set of masks for spraying the camouflage scheme, not for the canopy glazing. It helps to bound the transitions between the gray and the white areas of a model in 1:48 scale exactly.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set differs from ordinary masks for glazing in its purpose: it is intended for masking the camouflage scheme itself. A gray upper surface and a white lower surface was the typical finish of US Navy carrier aircraft, and the boundary between the two shades runs along the fuselage, the wings and the tail surfaces on an exactly set line. The cut masks follow that line, so the result does not have to be judged freehand.
The work goes from the lighter shade to the darker, that is first the white lower surface and, once it has cured, the masks are applied and the gray is sprayed. The paint under the mask has to be genuinely cured, not merely dry to the touch, otherwise the film will peel the edge away when it is removed. Lay the gray on in thin coats and spray away from the mask into the surface, so that nothing is drawn under the edge.
The masks fit the shape of the parts of the given subject, so lay them on dry before spraying and check whether the line follows on across the joints. Fill any small gaps between the individual parts of the mask with a strip of ordinary masking tape. Once the masks are off, check the edge against the light and put any creep right with a fine brush while the spray is still fresh.
The package holds only the masks. A model and paints are not part of it.
