CMK 1:35 AH-1G Cobra - exterior upgrade set for ICM kits brings the external details of the world's first attack helicopter: underwing rocket pods, a pitot tube and a tail skid. It is not a kit - you have to have the model from ICM.

An upgrade set from CMK for the model of the Bell AH-1G Cobra in 1:35 scale from ICM. The word exterior means external parts - the set therefore does not cover the cockpit. According to the manufacturer it contains a 3D-printed pitot tube, a 3D-printed tail skid and above all the underwing armament: pairs of M200 and M260 rocket pods (and one more type of pod) in a far finer rendering than the parts from the kit. The bodies of the pods are cast in resin, their front and rear faces are 3D printed and photo-etched details are enclosed as well. It is NOT a kit - you have to have the ICM model itself. Watch out for a mix-up: a separate 3D-printed ResKit exhaust exists for the same helicopter - it covers a single part and is not included in this set.
The AH-1G was the world's first purpose-built attack helicopter. In Vietnam there was an urgent need to escort vulnerable transport helicopters, so Bell took the engine and rotor of the proven UH-1 Huey and built a completely new, extremely narrow fuselage around them - so narrow that the pilot and the gunner sit in tandem, one behind the other. A smaller frontal area means a smaller target. It is precisely the underwing armament on the stub wings that made the Cobra what it was: pods for unguided rockets were its everyday weapon. The G version is the original Vietnam one (the HueyCobra).
The set combines resin, 3D printing and photo-etch. Separate the resin and printed parts from the casting blocks by cutting - with a saw or a disc, never snap them off, as they crack. Do not use cement for polystyrene, it does not work on them: reach for super glue, and for photo-etch thin cyanoacrylate or epoxy also works well. Wash the parts before painting in warm water with dish soap so that the mold release agent disappears - otherwise the paint cracks and peels. Sanding produces dust that is harmful to health: work wet, never with a dry sanding sponge and no respiratory protection. Spray the rocket pods separately before fitting them to the stub wings - once they are on, you will not get to them.
It is NOT a kit. It is an upgrade accessory - the base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
