An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/U2 jet aircraft (prototype V056) in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is the experimental night version with radar in the nose and its characteristic antenna array. The box holds clear parts for the canopy glazing. Check the exact contents of the box and the form of the markings against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Me 262 was the first jet fighter in the world to see combat and represented a technological leap at the end of the Second World War. It was powered by a pair of turbojets slung under the wing and was very fast for its day. The A-1a/U2 version was built as an experimental night fighter: the V056 prototype carried radar in the nose with the typical antenna array for finding targets in the dark. It was an experimental machine built in small numbers, testing whether a jet aircraft could be used for night defense.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint and shade the cockpit before closing the fuselage, and mask the clear glazing while spraying. Assemble the nose antenna array carefully and fit it at the very end so that it is not damaged during handling. Apply primer and spray the paints with an airbrush; choose a darker scheme for a night machine and bring the panel lines out discreetly with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
