A set of photo-etched parts for refining the interior of a plastic model of the MiG-25 in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft, but an aftermarket accessory. It addresses the instrument panel and the side panels, the belts and details of the ejection seat, consoles, small levers and handles, stiffeners and sheet-metal covers. These parts are supposed to have the scale thickness of mere sheet, which injection-molded plastic cannot manage, and at the same time they are clearly visible under an open canopy. The manufacturer is the Ukrainian company Metallic Details. The photo-etched fret is cut for the ICM kit.
The MiG-25 is a Soviet twin-engine aircraft designed for very high speed and ceiling, deployed in the interceptor and reconnaissance roles. The cockpit of the single-seat version is fairly cramped and technically restrained, with analog instruments and an ejection seat. On a model in 1:48 scale it is easy to look into with the canopy open, so the quality of the interior markedly influences the overall impression.
Deal with the interior right at the start of the build — fit the parts, paint them and try them dry before the fuselage is glued together. Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers. Make the bends on a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, so that it does not run onto the surrounding surfaces. Degrease the sheet before painting and use a base color; the panels stand out after a fine dry brush and an accent of the hollows.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a complete model — the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
