A set of the LooKplus range from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the Mi-24D attack helicopter in 1:48 scale. It is a combined package that brings several kinds of accessory together into one whole. The set is intended for a particular model and does not hold the plastic kit.
The Mi-24D is an attack helicopter that differs from most machines in its category in carrying, besides its armament, a cabin for carried personnel. The fuselage is therefore considerably bulkier than on narrow attack helicopters. The D version brought a reworked nose with stations arranged in tandem, where the operator sits in front and lower and the pilot behind and higher, each under a separate canopy of his own. The front station has a different make-up of instruments from the rear one, which matters when building a model — one and the same instrument panel cannot be used in both.
The procedure follows what types of part are in the package. Wash resin parts first in warm water with detergent so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surface with a file — always with respiratory protection. Colored elements on decal paper are applied by soaking in lukewarm water onto a smooth glossy base with a decal softener. Degrease photo-etched sheet and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage. With a tandem arrangement, check that you are fitting the parts into the right station.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
