The R-98R AA-3A Anab missile in 1:48 scale from Plusmodel — a resin miniature of the radar-guided Soviet air-to-air missile, the typical armament of Su-15 interceptors.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin casting of the Soviet R-98R guided missile (AA-3A Anab in the NATO reporting system) in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. It is an accessory of aircraft armament, not a model of an aircraft; the slender missile with its prominent canards belongs inseparably under the wings of the interceptors of the Soviet air defense.
The R-98 missile came about in the 1960s by development of the older R-8 and became the main weapon of the Su-15 interceptor, the backbone of the Soviet air defense. The R-98R version used semi-active radar homing: the radar of the carrier aircraft illuminated the target and the missile homed on the reflected signal, which made a hit possible at night and in bad weather as well. The Su-15 typically carried a pair of missiles, the radar R-98R on one pylon and the heat-seeking R-98T on the other, so that an interception did not depend on a single method of homing.
Wash the casting free of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and sand the marks down with protection for your airways; glue with cyanoacrylate glue and prime. Pay attention to lining the wings and the control surfaces up, as the slender silhouette of the missile comes out only with precise geometry. Complete the light paint with the dark dielectric radome of the head and fine stencil markings according to period photographs.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
