This is neither a model nor a kit but a separate decal sheet in 1:48 scale. The set is aimed at the night intruder aircraft of the Royal Air Force and offers markings for several particular machines, among them the Hawker Hurricane, the de Havilland Mosquito and the Douglas Boston. The sheet is meant for use on plastic kits of the corresponding type and scale, which have to be obtained separately.
Night intruder aircraft operated in the dark over enemy territory and attacked airfields, transport and other targets at the time when enemy air activity was at its most vulnerable. The machines meant for this carried dark night schemes and often the individual markings of the particular crews, so they differ markedly from the commonly built day versions of the same types. That is exactly where the value of a themed sheet lies: it lets you build an aircraft that is not often seen on a show table.
Always apply the decals onto a smooth gloss coat, not directly onto matte paint, otherwise a silvery veil will appear under the film. Cut the sheet close to the edge of the print. Soak it in water only briefly and let it slide onto the surface; the position is fine-tuned with a brush. Adhesion to the engraved lines and to the curved surfaces is made easier by a decal softener, which is applied onto the decal once it is in place and left to dry without further handling. Once it is dry, spray the whole model over with a matte coat, which makes the edges of the film disappear completely. With dark night schemes it pays to lay a thin layer of white under a decal only where the base would show through.
The package holds only decals. The kit, the paints and the varnishes are not included.
