The real subject

The AH-64D Apache is an American attack helicopter with a crew of two seated one behind the other, that is in tandem. You can tell the D version by the radar dome carried above the main rotor. Under the stub wings it carries pylons for armament. Both crew stations are densely packed with instruments and displays, so the cockpit is among the things that most decide the impression a finished model makes of the whole machine.

What the set contains

A set of colored relief elements for the cockpit of a model in 1:35 scale. The elements are laid onto the cockpit parts and take the place of laboriously painting the small details, that is the displays, the scales, the lettering and the division of the panels. According to the name the set is cut for the Takom kit, so its shapes match that one. The exact extent of the set and the placing of the individual elements are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building tips

First paint the cockpit parts with the base color and let it dry completely; the surface has to be clean, smooth and degreased, otherwise the elements will not bed down. Separate them and transfer them with tweezers or a moistened pointed brush, seat them one at a time and press them down lightly. Before applying them, check in the instructions whether the elements are self-adhesive: the method of application differs between the individual ranges, so do not use water or softener on them without checking the instructions.

Who it is for

For the builder who wants both crew stations well worked out but does not want to paint them with a brush. The work calls for good light, tweezers and patience rather than for years of experience. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
