HGW 1:48 P-47 D Razorback Over New Guinea is a set of wet transfers with the combat markings of American Thunderbolt fighters in Pacific service.
Responsibility details are not available.
This marking set from the Czech manufacturer HGW in 1:48 scale uses wet transfer technology. It leaves no glossy carrier film and no visible edges on the model, so the result looks like markings sprayed directly on. The set covers Republic P-47D machines in the razorback form from the fighting over New Guinea. It is an accessory to a kit, not a model.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was a massive American fighter of the Second World War; the razorback version had a continuous fuselage spine without a bubble canopy. In the southwest Pacific the Thunderbolts proved themselves as heavy fighters as well as fighter-bombers and carried striking personal and unit markings.
Wet transfers are applied onto smooth gloss paint; after wetting, the carrier membrane is taken off and only the marking itself is left on the model, with no film. Work with plenty of water and gentle pressure, so that the transfer settles into the detail. At the end even the surface out with a protective varnish at the sheen you want.
This is a stand-alone set of markings. The kit and the paints are not included in the package.
