A detail set of the wing gun bays for the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. This resin accessory makes it possible to show the open bays with the machine guns and their installation in the wing realistically, where a plastic kit offers only a simplified solution.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was an American fighter of the Second World War with a powerful radial engine. In its wings it carried heavy 12.7 mm machine gun armament, which made it extremely effective in attacks on ground targets as well.
Wash the parts to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue. The gun bays come into their own once they are painted, the edges are picked out with a dry brush and a light wash underlines the internal structure of the wing and the gun installation.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
