A resin accessory in 1:48 scale representing the American unguided aircraft rocket Tiny Tim in the short variant. It is not a model of an aircraft — it is external stores that a modeler adds to a finished kit in order to complete it into a particular combat configuration. A resin casting allows finer details of shape than can be made with injection-molded plastic.
The Tiny Tim was an American large-caliber unguided aircraft rocket developed at the end of the Second World War. It was markedly more massive than the ordinary carrier-based rockets of its time and was intended for attacks on resistant ground and naval targets, where standard rocket armament was not enough. Because of its weight and dimensions it was carried under the fuselage or on the inboard wing pylons, and only on aircraft that could lift it.
First wash the resin parts with warm soapy water — residues of mold release agent from the mold otherwise prevent the paint and the glue from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife; do not break them. Do the sanding wet and with protection for your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because classic cement for plastic does not react with resin. A primer is needed before painting; with a heavier store it is better to pin it to the pylon with a thin wire, as a glued joint on its own need not hold the weight.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
