1:48 Supermarine Spitfire FR Mk.XIV painting masks from SX-Art form an extended sheet for spraying camouflage onto a model of this British fighter. These are not canopy masks.
Responsibility details are not available.
An extended set of self-adhesive masks for spraying the camouflage pattern onto a model of the Supermarine Spitfire FR Mk.XIV fighter in 1:48 scale. The film is laid onto a cured base shade and bounds shapes that would be hard to repeat freehand. The designation in the name refers to the greater extent of the sheet compared with the standard sets from the same manufacturer.
The Spitfire Mk.XIV was a late stage in the development of the famous British fighter, powered by the strong Rolls-Royce Griffon engine with a five-blade propeller. The longer nose and the taller vertical tail change the silhouette against the earlier versions at first glance. The letters FR in the designation stand for the reconnaissance variant fitted with a camera, which nonetheless kept the full armament of a fighter.
With a larger sheet it is worth working in stages. Stick on and spray one half of the airframe first, let it cure and only then carry on, because otherwise you will lose your way in the handling and risk scratching the surface you have already done. The order relative to the other steps is clear: camouflage through the masks first, then a gloss clear coat, only after that the decals and finally a matte top coat with the weathering. A decal stuck under a mask would peel off when the film was removed.
The package contains painting masks only. The model, paints and thinner are not part of the delivery.
