Two turned metal barrels of the Hispano cannon for the Spitfire in 1:48 scale from Aber, 20 mm caliber. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of two turned metal barrels in 1:48 scale for the 20 millimeter Hispano aircraft cannon of the kind carried by the British Spitfire fighter. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic parts. The cannon barrels protrude far forward from the leading edge of the wing, so they are conspicuous, and the plastic parts tend to be thick, bowed and with a blind muzzle.
As the war went on, the Spitfire received ever heavier armament. While the first machines carried only 7.7 millimeter machine guns, the later versions combined machine guns with 20 millimeter Hispano cannons, which were far more effective against sturdy structures. The characteristic long barrels protruding from the wing are among the most conspicuous recognition features of these versions.
Degrease the metal barrels with alcohol and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Cut off the plastic parts and drill the hole exactly to the diameter of the pin, so that the barrel does not wobble. Meter out the glue with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle, because on small parts any excess overflows at once. Fit the barrels last of all, after the decals have been applied and the top coat sprayed, otherwise you will bend them during handling. On a wing installation, check that both barrels protrude equally far.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
