Kovozavody Prostejov is a Czech manufacturer that has long devoted itself to types outside the mainstream of the big brands. The model is supplied as a kit, that is unassembled and unpainted. The number of parts, the contents of the package and the number of color schemes are given on the box and in the instructions.
The SF-260 is an all-metal single-engine low-wing aircraft with a piston engine, retractable landing gear and characteristic tip tanks on the wings. The cockpit seats an instructor and a pupil side by side, and behind them there is room for a third seat. The aircraft was originally created as a fast sporting machine and, thanks to its flying qualities and agility, established itself mainly as a basic and advanced trainer. It is operated by a number of flying schools and military training units all over the world. The designation D corresponds to a later production version of the family.
Test the parts dry before gluing and clean the mating surfaces up in advance; with smaller production runs that tends to be the key to a clean build. Finish the cockpit and mask the glazing before the fuselage is closed. On thin parts such as the landing gear legs and struts, use glue sparingly. Glossy white and colorful training finishes need a smooth base, so a filler, sanding with fine paper and only then the top coat are worth the effort. Apply the decals over a gloss surface and seal them with a matte or gloss varnish to suit the character of the subject.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
