An accessory in 1:72 scale aimed at the cannon armament of the F-4E Phantom II fighter. Intended for reworking a kit under construction.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4E is the version of the Phantom II that was the first in the line to receive a built-in rotary cannon. The weapon sits in a lengthened nose under the radar, which gives this version an unmistakable silhouette with a drawn-out nose sloping downward. Until then the Phantom relied on guided missiles alone and carried a cannon at most in an external pod. It is by the shape of the nose that the F-4E can be told from the older versions at first glance.
The accessory concentrates on the cannon armament and its surroundings in 1:72 scale. The range of parts, the way they seat and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions; compare them with the documentation for your own kit. It is worth dry-fitting the set before gluing, because the forward part of the fuselage tends to be sensitive in shape on Phantom models.
If the parts are not polystyrene, you join them with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand off the rest. Wash and degrease before painting. Apply the base coat in thin layers, so that the fine surface detail stays visible. Pick out the muzzle and the area around the weapon only after the base coat; on machines in service the sooting tends to be pronounced.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
