A set of MH models painting masks for spraying the markings onto a model of the Siebel Si 204D in 1:48 scale. It complements the masks for the national insignia and concerns the rest of the airframe lettering. The make-up and the number of elements are given by the manufacturer on the box.
The Si 204D is a fairly clean all-metal airframe with large smooth areas of fuselage and a prominent glazed nose. It is exactly on smooth areas that sprayed markings look best, because that is where decal film shows even under matte varnish. Sprayed paint also holds in places where a decal would have to run across an edge or across a pronounced panel transition.
Sets of markings tend to consist of several separate pieces that together form a single figure, or they are sprayed in two colors over one another. With such work the register is the key. Work from the largest piece to the smallest, and before you press the edges down check the position against a fixed point on the airframe: the edge of the wing, a panel transition or the edge of the glazing. When a template consists of several parts, transfer it to the model with clear transfer tape, which will keep the mutual spacing as it was on the sheet. Always let each color dry before the next, otherwise the second layer will pull the first off when a mask is applied over it. Check the symmetry of the left and right sides with a ruler, not by eye. The masks are cut to fit the Special Hobby kit.
This is not a kit. The set contains painting masks only; the model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
